What is the age requirement for classes at Mood U?
16+ for adult classes. 9-15 for kid classes.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Mood Fabrics and Mood U are conveniently located close to many subway stations, all within a 5-10min walk.

Street parking in Midtown Manhattan is not recommended. There are multiple parking stations nearby should you wish to drive.
Can I bring my own supplies from home?
All required supplies are included in the Mood U Supply Kits for whichever 6-week class you may be taking.
For classes with ‘Free Tuition’ we only permit entry to the class if you have the specific ‘Mood U Supply Kit’ relevant to that class.
Can I still sign up if I have to miss one of the six classes?
Absolutely! The classes are structured to complete sections of the course week by week, however if you should miss a class the Mood U team will work with you to get back on track with your work and talk through in brief anything you may have missed.
We also offer 3 sessions of Open Sewing Lab every Wednesday: 11:00AM-1:00PM, 1:00PM-3:00PM and 3:00PM-5:00PM should you need extra time to work on your project or catch up with something you missed (please note Open Lab does not provide tuition on any of our class content. Purchasing a ticket only provides you with access to the Mood U space and equipment, to work on any project independently).
Open Lab tickets can be purchased online on the day of the lab from 10am onwards. Session times are subject to change. Space is limited.
Can I get a refund if I have to cancel?
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Mood Fabrics has a no returns & no exchange policy on items purchased in store (eg: draping kits, sewing kits, illustration kits, fabric and other supplies)
FAQ | SEWING CLASSES
Do I have to bring my own sewing machine?
No, we provide each student with a sewing machine to use at Mood U.
How do I know what level I should start at?
Beginner level classes are for students who have no previous experience, or have a little experience but have not created any projects in a while and wish to refresh their beginner sewing knowledge. Class tuition is FREE for 6 weeks! You will pay a $15* registration fee to secure your space and the FREE TUITION of the class is provided upon your in-store purchase of the 'Mood U Sewing Kit' (retail $140*)
Intermediate level classes are for students who have had some experience with simple projects and wish to take their skills to the next level. Class fee is $155* for 6 weeks.
Advanced level classes are for students who have had a reasonable amount of experience and wish to learn a higher level of skill in garment construction. Class fee is $155* for 6 weeks.
All of our classes at every level are very social and a lot of students continue to return to keep learning but also to enjoy the social aspect.
Can I switch classes?
Transferring between different class times is not possible. We ask you to make sure the scheduled class time works with your weekly schedule. We do not offer make up classes at Mood U.

FAQ | DRAPING CLASSES
Do I need to have my own dress form for the Draping classes?
No, we provide you with a professional dress form during class. If you wish to explore your draping skills at home you may like to consider taking a look at the Mood Dress Form.
How do I know what level I should start at for Draping?
Draping Basics Part 1 Classes are for students who have no previous experience, or have a little experience but have not draped in a while and wish to refresh their beginner knowledge. Class fee is $155* for 6 weeks.
Draping Basics Part 2 Classes are for students who have had some experience with draping on the dress form and wish to take their skills to the next level. Class fee is $155* for 6 weeks.
Advanced Draping Classes are for students who have had a reasonable amount of experience and wish to expand their skills whilst working on a custom project. Class fee is $155* for 6 weeks.
All of our classes at every level are very social and a lot of students continue to return to keep learning but also to enjoy the social aspect.
Please note we also have a 'Pattern Making 101' class that pairs well with our draping classes. This class is also $155* for 6 weeks.
Can I switch classes?

FAQ | ILLUSTRATION CLASSES
Do I need to be able to draw for the illustration classes?
No, we provide you with the foundation you need to be able to draw your own fashion ideas. The class is broken down into some technical demonstrations and activities and a lot of fun and creative classes also!
How do I know what level I should start at for Illustration?
We currently only offer a beginner level 'Fundamentals of Fashion Drawing', Class fee is $155* for 6 weeks.
You will need to have all of the items listed on the supply list to get the most out of this class. We sell the Mood U Illustration Kit in-store (NYC only) If you already have some items on the list you can purchase individual supplies from us also to supplement what you have.
