Beginner Workshops

Design a Mood Board

A mood board (or inspiration board) is a collage of ideas that's commonly used in fields like interior design, fashion, and graphic design. It can include just about anything — photography, designs or illustrations, color palettes, textures, descriptive words — anything that helps you define the direction of your project.

Make a Bean Bag

Learn how to make a comfortable bean bag chair for kids (or adults!). Whether for lounging in front of the television or curling up to read a book, this lightweight and moldable chair is easy to make and loads of fun.

Make a Circle Skirt

A circle skirt is a full, flowy skirt that gets its name from the circular shape of the skirt when it is spread out. We think circle skirts are the perfect simple and elegant dressmaking project for a workshop. Even if you’re new to sewing, a circle skirt is an easy project that you can complete in a short time and will become your go-to pattern for years to come!

Make a Drawstring Bag

Learn how to make a versatile drawstring bag that can be used as a gym bag, book bag, beach carry-all and anything else you may need to carry around. This simple bag is quick and easy to create with the guidance of the Mood U Team!

Make a Gadget Cover

Instead of buying fashionable accessories for essential gear, why not make your own statement covers for your laptop, tablet or any device? The possibilities are endless with our range of awesome fabrics at Mood!

Make a Simple Summer Dress

Warmer weather means light and airy clothing made with playful patterns and bright colors; they signal easy days of relaxation and comfort. Join us in this workshop to try your hand at making your own simple summer dress. They're fun to make and fun to wear, and will add a bright spot to spruce up your summer wardrobe.

Make a Table Linen Set

When it comes to home décor, tablecloths offer an elegant way to enliven a kitchen or living room while protecting table finishes from water stains and scratches. You can buy tablecloths nearly anywhere, but you'll have a greater sense of personal satisfaction if you make a tablecloth that's perfectly matched to your style, color preferences, and home furnishings. Whether you’re having guests over for Sunday brunch, or planning a wedding, table linen is the essential element to present your beautiful event upon.

Make a Throw Pillow

Brighten up your home with this basic throw pillow workshop. Throw pillows are just about the easiest things you can make, even if you have little-to-no sewing experience. As your skills increase you can create more elaborate designs, shapes, and sizes to add style and character to any room in your home.

Make an A-Line Skirt

Sewing an A-Line skirt teaches invaluable skills, as well as delivers a versatile wardrobe staple that can be customized to fit and flatter your style. An A-line skirt is a classic shape that can be dressed up or down, and can transition from summer to fall with ease.

Make Simple Drapes

Making your own curtain panels for your windows gives you the freedom to choose your own fabric patterns and colors. Homemade curtain panels can also provide custom window solutions for irregularly sized windows that won't fit standard curtain sizes. This workshop will teach you how to make a simple window treatment with a basic curtain panel.

Intermediate Workshops

Learn Techniques: Couture Sewing

This unique workshop provides an overview of dressmaking and tailoring methods that go beyond standard sewing and enters the coveted world of couture. You will be introduced to essential techniques and their proper application for construction and finish of your garments for the perfect result that defines couture sewing, giving a high-end, professional look.

Learn Techniques: Fabric Embellishment

Add definition and style to any home decor or fashion project. In this workshop you will learn how to use hand sewing techniques to apply decorative embellishment to your work. We will also look at ways to use the sewing machine to create details within your sewing projects. Once you learn a few new techniques you will be looking to embellish all the projects you can.

Make a Roman Blind

Do you have a window just dying to be spruced up? Unlike standard curtains and blinds, Roman shades create a smooth, streamlined silhouette and allow only the desired amount of light into a room. Not only are they classic and contemporary, but they don't require a lot of special hardware, making them easy to set up for the novice.

Make a Wrap Dress

Modern wrap dresses were popularized by designer Diane von Furstenberg in the 1970s and have remained in style ever since. They are comfortable, stylish, flattering for every figure, and appropriate for most occasions. Most wrap dress patterns are easy to customize with your choice of fabric, sleeve length and bodice style to create a look that is all your own.

Advanced Workshops

Make a Chanel-Style Jacket

A Chanel-style jacket is a powerful piece that has stood the test of time, and 70 years later there are no age restrictions to its wearability. A well-made Chanel-style jacket is a great investment in your wardrobe because of its versatility—you can dress it up, or dress it down, and you’ll always have a classic look. The best kept secret of all is that it’s a perfect first-time jacket project because it’s really not that difficult to make!
